  2. Hey, this is Ilene Gore from Driftwood Beach Club. My weeks there are 46-47. I bought your book and had you sign it. Hopefully you will remember me. I just finished reading your book. It was absolutely not what I expected. I expected planning, numbers and goal setting. I truly enjoyed what you wrote. Will you write again?

  3. Hi Ilene, I am touring past properties that Jake took a part in way back. Thus meeting you at D.W.B.C. I am currently working on the 80’s in Jake’s Florida life. Thx. For your response. Glad you enjoyed the read. J

  5. Hey Ben, makes me feel pretty good to see you and grandkids playing together on the beach! Who would have thought 30 odd years ago? Njoy, J

  6. John, my first sales job was selling time shares at the Silver Seas in the mid 80’s. You were an amazing teacher of the art and science of interpersonal sales. Fondly remember your Jack Nicholson and Dan Akroyd imitations putting people at ease. I kept a notebook of things I learned from you, that grew as I learned from others. Oh the places those lessons have taken me. Have been told by many, that they learned how to sell with fun and professionalism from me. It started with you. Can’t wait to read your book…and thank you!

  7. Michael, hello! I still recall you arranging contact with a “little known” N.Y. developer who had a property in St Maartin, years ago. He is pretty well known now! Thank you for reaching out.Always looking to learn, and Happy to share. J

  12. Seven years ago, I had the privilege of meeting John Carroll, and although my background is in construction, real estate development, and business operations, one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned has come from watching John’s remarkable ability to sell—not through pressure or flashy presentations, but through authenticity, relationship-building, and the power of storytelling. John has an exceptional gift for connecting with people, understanding their needs, and communicating value in a way that inspires confidence and trust. He taught me that people aren’t simply buying a product or service; they’re investing in a vision, a relationship, and the person standing behind it. As a contractor, I was trained to focus on quality workmanship, budgets, schedules, and execution, but John showed me that even the best product needs a compelling story and genuine human connection. His approach has influenced the way I present projects, work with clients, build partnerships, and pursue new business opportunities. Whether I’m leading multimillion-dollar construction projects or developing new ventures, I now understand that success isn’t just about what you build—it’s about the trust you earn, the relationships you cultivate, and the confidence you inspire in others. Looking back over the past seven years, I can honestly say that meeting John Carroll has made me a better businessman, a better communicator, and a better leader, and for that I am truly grateful.

    • Hey Matt,
We sure had a challenge on our hands with that project in Houston. We pulled it off Together! Heard what you r doing. Congrats, never had a doubt! J

  13. Some books entertain you, and others make you feel like you’ve traveled somewhere special. The Round Table does exactly that. My favorite chapter is set in Provincetown, particularly the scenes at the Lobster Pot. They perfectly capture the charm, energy, and character of coastal New England. If you enjoy adventure, clever humor, heartfelt moments, and a little romance woven throughout, this is the book for you. Can’t wait for the sequel! 😉

    • Hi C.A., gotta luv lobstah! Working on the next chapters, busy Living the current ones. Life is an adventure! Jake

  14. This book is the perfect escape. It has adventure, humor, and so many laugh-out-loud moments. I’m lucky enough to know John, and anyone who has spent time with him knows he has a gift for telling stories. Hearing some of his own adventures over the years made reading this book even more enjoyable because you can feel that same warmth, wit, sense of adventure, and spirit comes alive in these pages.

  17. John CARROLL! To those of you who know John, I had the pleasure of meeting him accepting my first Director of Sales job in Bonita Springs, FL….. I hold records with Hyatt Vacation Club as a Rep and as a Closer out of San Antonio, Tx… I interviewed him, and immediately knew, he was a dog I wanted in my camp…… after weeks of him begrudgingly going through our corporate training…. I handed John a tour, and he said “be ready” I replied as he already knew….. “ I STAY READY” unbeknownst to me…. It was the first frontline tour he’d taken as a rep in almost 40 years…… 10 minutes in he says, “I have a deal” little did I know, they were giving him every excuse in the book hahahaha however John pulled the deal… and I WAS NOT SURPRISED….. John, your mentality, your personality, and your I WILL NOT BE DENIED attitude, was a wonderful thing to see. It’s the culture I was raised on….. this book tells that story. Since then I’ve recently been promoted to Project Director of Sales and Marketing back home in San Antonio…. However, I brag about John everyday in my morning meetings…… in order to be a dog, you have to know when to bark and when to bite, and I’ll leave yall with this…. OLD DOGS DIE HARD. See you soon John, sell some time 👊🏼

    • Hey Matt, thanks for the opp. To “climb back on the Horse”. Been awhile but that Thrill was still there!. The new members are thrilled and excited for the future adventures that await. Funny how you phrase my approach to Corporate training as “begrudgingly”. You were absolutely correct. I forgot my Main lesson I preach, “Everyone, no matter the level of experience, can learn and hone the skills of their profession. Perfection Does Not Exist! Keep learning and improving! To that I would like to commend, praise, applaud, and thank the awesome presentation given by Shirley, Davina, and Hussein. Your delivery, knowledge and professionalism are to be commended.
Matt, congrats on your Promotion, I have no doubts where you r headed!j
